Providing Care for the Elderly since 1945
At the beginning of the year Pat Pye had an idea to help other residents. Pat & Edmee encouraged 12 residents in a worthwhile rewarding project of knitting cat blankets for Raystede Animal Rescue & Rehoming Centre in Ringmer, East Sussex. They gave the residents wool and knitting needles to produce small squares that would eventually be crocheted together by Pat.
They started the project on February 29th and completed it on the 4th of July. Each of the residents knitting small squares used from scraps of wool, with a variety of colours and thickness. After each resident had finished a square, Pat crocheted them together so both sides of the blanket would look pretty.
Pat described it as ‘rubbish’ wool , that you can’t really do anything with. The‘ rubbish’ wool has been transformed in to 24 beautiful colourful blankets for the cat’s baskets at Raystede. Mandi will be arranging a visit and presentation of the blankets to Raystede shortly and a special card made by Ann Maynard and signed by all the residents who knitted the blankets.
