At Bernhard Baron Cottage Homes our complete focus is on care and providing everyone with enjoyable and active later years. It starts when we first meet. A detailed care plan is agreed to ensure we meet your personal, medical and social needs. We have automated our care plans so they are easily accessible by relevant staff and they are updated monthly as your needs change.
Your cottage or room has private ensuite facilities and we encourage you to bring your own furniture and personal items. Should you need a hospital bed, then we can supply one. In the main building, we have bathrooms with lifts for your comfort and a wet room.
Your room or cottage is maintained and cleaned by us. We change your bed linen, towels and wash your clothes. You may choose to use our washers and dryers to do your own washing if you wish – the choice is yours.
Every day there are activities either in the Homes or out in our own minibus and sometimes you will need to choose as we may have several activities on a single day. Our main lounge has coffee/tea making facility for the use of residents, friends and family or we will make you whatever you want, whenever you want.
Lunch is at 1230, but if you have other arrangements we are happy to provide you with an early lunch. You will be offered a three-course meal consisting of soup or a starter, a choice of two main courses, one of which is a vegetarian option and a dessert. Alternatives are always available if you prefer a jacket potato or an omelette or something else. This is your home, but you will have more choice and we do the washing up.
There are activities in the afternoon, often arranged by residents. On Friday and Saturday evening we often show a film on our cinema style projector screen. On Sundays, we have an ecumenical service and a Quaker meeting of worship. Everyone is welcome but there is no pressure to attend.
We will manage your medications for you if you wish and even accompany you to the doctor if you need support. We will arrange a conversation on Skype with friends and family far away and we already have 25% or our residents using our free WiFi throughout the Homes for iPads, Kindles and PCs.
You can choose to have a direct dial telephone in your room at a lower cost than any third party supplier.
We love to sit down and have a chat but in case we have missed something, please ask anyone. Whether a carer, a housekeeper, a chef or a manager – we are all there for you. Every month we meet with the Residents’ Forum (five residents are chosen by you to represent everyone) and three times a year we meet with all residents in the main lounge. Trustees visit regularly and when they come for a Trustee Meeting they sit with the residents. The Trustees also want to get to know you and want to ensure you are enjoying life at Bernhard Baron Cottage Homes.
Please give us a call or send us an email to arrange a visit. We would enjoy showing you our Homes.
