Care Manager

Bernhard Baron Cottage Homes is looking for a Care Manager as part of the management team of a residential care home with 60 older people in Polegate, East Sussex.

Bernhard Baron Cottage Homes is a Quaker charity established in 1945 and houses Residents in cottages and the main building. Our aim is to help Residents to enjoy life to the full, have peace of mind and a sense of security in familiar surroundings in their closing years. This is the Residents’ home and this must always be remembered.

The Care Manager will be in charge of all direct and indirect care activities including care, housekeeping and catering. He or she will form part of the management team consisting of the Principal Care Manager (Registered Manager) and the Business Manager. The managers’ predominant aim is to achieve a homely safe living space for our Residents.

Main Duties:
* To manage the day to day running of the service and staff team ensuring the highest level of care is provided in accordance with CQC standards and within the spirit of the Quaker way of life promoting fairness, equality and openness.
* To maintain a happy, friendly, warm and supportive home for our residents, promoting the rights of each resident and keeping their wishes at the centre of their care and support.
* To support Residents to ensure that their physical, social and emotional needs are met, ensuring that the dignity and individuality of each Resident are respected and that they are able to exercise choice in all areas of their life.

As the successful candidate you will need at least some experience in the management of elderly care in a residential setting, along with:

  • A genuine passion for care
  • Experience in managing 45+ beds
  • A good understanding of and confidence in the use and implementation of systems
  • Sound knowledge of the CQC and applicable legislation/standards.
  • Strong leadership skills and a fair management style.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Indicative salary: £30,000 per annum
