Kath turning 100 could not have been a more special event. With some 60 cards including one from the Queen Kath celebrated in style with cake, drinks, singing and her usual cheeriness. To cap celebrations Kath joined two other centenarians in opening the restoring Eastbourne pier, now known as the Sheikh’s Pier. Our local MP Caroline Ansell, shown on the left and the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne, shown on the right escorted Kath down the pier. The host Sheikh Abid Gulzar could not have been more gracious and generous. Following the opening he started handing out presents and when Nathalie had her arms completely full for Kath, we decided it was time to leave.
We all look forward to Kath’s next 100 years, which she has embarked upon with vigour.
