Len Robinson has always been interested in growing his own veg. As a member of the Garden Club he now has his own vegetable patch.
He’s been growing Swiss Chard from seed. He sowed the seeds back in April and kept them in the green house and when big enough he moved the Chard to the bed opposite the pond. The idea came from a kitchen garden Len had seen at Chatsworth House. He’s hoping the BBCH kitchen might start to use the Swiss Chard, it’s like a cross between spinach and cabbage. All you need to do is chop it up ( leaves separated from stalks) add a bit of salt and boil for 10 minutes. Len hopes to plant more veg in the future. and get some of the residents involved too.
