Activities

Bernhard Baron Care Home provide a full and varied calendar of activities, free for all residents to join as often as they wish.

Daily activities are planned on a monthly basis by our enthusiastic activities co-ordinators, including outings in our own heated and air-conditioned minibus - which offers easy access and a lift.

Musical events, exercise classes and a wide range of other activities which include:

● Arts and Crafts
● WEA (Workers’ Educational Association)
● U3A (University of the Third Age)
● Indoor and outdoor games,
● Music and movement
● Reminiscence workshops
● Visits to accessible places of interest including garden centres, beauty spots and shops

Special events

In addition to our programme of regular activities, we organise special events, such as talks, slideshows, and visits from music groups and local schools.. In the summer more outside visits are arranged, including an annual farm trip that includes a fun hayride as well as picnic outings. We have special lunches and ‘afternoon tea’ on the bank holidays and visiting entertainers provide a variety of enjoyment for all.

We aim to make our activities accessible to everyone and our carers go along to help with wheelchairs and other personal needs. We also provide individual activities for residents with specific needs.

Religious activity

Religious needs are catered for with our weekly meeting for worship in our quiet room and a service with hymns every Sunday evening in the main lounge. We also organise transport to local church services. All of our activities are completely optional and open to residents to access as often as they wish.

We like to encourage participation and new ideas are always welcome, especially those initiated by residents such as the recent creation of a regular newsletter compiled by residents.
