We were delighted to welcome illustrator Giulia Casarotto for a very special Cuckoo Trail Workshop.

Giulia has been commissioned by award-winning PR and marketing consultancy Prowse & Co and Wealden District Council to develop a series of STEM and creative workshops, inspired by the history of the Cuckoo Line and the wildlife that now flourishes along the Cuckoo Trail. These workshops are being delivered between March 2024 – December 2025 in local primary schools and care homes across the Wealden District, supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
During our session, Residents enjoyed using leaves, pressed flowers, and different textured papers to create their own collage masterpieces, inspired by the many birds that call the Cuckoo Trail their home.

The workshop also included elements of ink painting alongside natural materials such as acorns, straw, and leaves, giving Residents a chance to explore mixed-media art in a fun and tactile way. Carefully crafted nests, and nature-inspired scenes emerged, each piece very unique .

The afternoon was filled with creativity, conversation, and a sense of calm. Many Residents shared stories about time spent in nature and found joy in working with natural materials. Sessions like this beautifully show how art and nature come together to inspire, relax, and connect us all.
Thank you to Giulia for guiding our Residents through such an imaginative and meaningful workshop—we look forward to welcoming her back again!
