A Stroll Through Our Summer Garden
There’s a quiet magic that happens each year as summer settles into the grounds of BBCH. The gardens — so lovingly tended by our dedicated team — begin to glow with colour, scent, and life.

Rose Showstoppers
This week, one of the real showstoppers has come into full bloom: the glorious 'Lady of Shalott' rose. With its deeply cupped apricot-orange petals and soft tea fragrance, this English rose is a favourite among our Residents and visitors alike. It’s not just beautiful — it’s resilient, thriving in the sun-dappled rose garden and blooming repeatedly through the warmer months. Its vibrant hue stands out against the lush green foliage, drawing the eye and lifting the spirits.

But the 'Lady of Shalott' is just one star in our growing summer cast! Elsewhere in the garden, a tapestry of colours unfurls. Our sunny yellow 'Golden Celebration' roses are a sight to behold, their large, rich blooms adding a cheerful burst of sunshine to the beds.

Nearby, the classic beauty of the 'Gertrude Jekyll' rose captivates with its deep pink, old-fashioned blooms and intoxicating fragrance, a true delight for the senses.
Adding to the sensory experience, our fragrant lavender bushes are now in full glorious bloom. Their vibrant purple spikes fill the air with a soothing, calming aroma, and they are a favourite spot for our buzzing bees, bringing even more life and movement to the garden.
In the Rose & Peace Garden , the flowers truly come alive with diverse textures and shades. Vibrant yellow and bright orange Asiatic Lilies stand tall and proud, their trumpet-shaped flowers adding dramatic pops of colour and an exotic touch. Delicate, light pink poppies sway gently in the breeze, creating a dreamy, ethereal feel in their corner of the garden. And the graceful peonies, with their voluminous pink petals, are putting on a magnificent show, showcasing nature's artistry.
For many at BBCH, a walk through the garden is a daily pleasure. The changing blooms mark the passage of time in the most gentle and joyful way. From quiet reflection on a shaded bench to a cheerful chat among the flower beds, the garden plays a special role in our home life.

This summer, we’ll be sharing more of what’s growing, blooming, and brightening our days — from these magnificent roses, calming lavender, vibrant lilies, poppies, and peonies to the buzzing bees and birds that call our grounds home.
