Celebrating Easter with Traditional Simnel Cake Decorating.

Easter is a time of joy and celebration, and what better way to embrace the festive spirit than by indulging in the art of cake decorating?

A Sweet Tradition

Simnel cake, a classic Easter treat, is rich in history and flavour. It’s a light fruit cake layered with marzipan and adorned with a circle of marzipan balls representing the eleven apostles (excluding Judas). This cake is not just a dessert; it’s a centrepiece.

A Community Effort

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jean Stock, who expertly baked the fruit cake Last week, Jean generously spent time with our residents, guiding them through the process of mixing and baking these traditional cakes.

The Art of Decoration

The highlight of our Easter preparations was the decoration demonstration led by Janet. With her exceptional talent and creative flair, Janet showed the other residents the different variations for decorating the cakes. From the smooth application of marzipan to the final touches of edible icing flowers, our residents were inspired by her techniques and took to decorating their cakes with enthusiasm and care.
