In Support of the Children With Cancer Fund
Springtime in East Sussex offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and community spirit. A recent visit to the Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm Trail provided a perfect opportunity to experience both, all while supporting a local charity—the Children With Cancer Fund (CWCF) based in Willingdon.
A Stroll Through Beatons Wood
The day began with a leisurely walk through Beatons Wood, an ancient oakwood renowned for its vibrant display of white wood anemones and the gradual emergence of bluebells. The 2/3-mile circular path is thoughtfully designed to accommodate all visitors, including those with mobility challenges, featuring wheelchair-accessible routes and benches for rest.

As we meandered through the serene woodland, the gentle rustling of leaves and the sight of emerging blooms created a tranquil atmosphere. Informative signs along the trail offered insights into the diverse flora and fauna, enriching our connection to the environment.
Supporting the Children With Cancer Fund
The Arlington Bluebell Walk is not just a celebration of nature; it's a vital fundraiser for local charities. Since its inception in 1972, the event has raised over £1 million for various causes. The CWCF, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children battling cancer in East Sussex, Brighton, and Hove, was among the beneficiaries.
Throughout the Bluebell Walk season, different charities host stalls and refreshment stands. Visitors can enjoy homemade cakes, teas, and other delights, knowing that their contributions support families facing challenging circumstances. The CWCF, for instance, grants wishes to children up to eighteen years old who have, or have had, cancer, aiming to provide them with experiences and items that bring joy during difficult times.
A Morning Well Spent
Our visit culminated with a delightful treat—a slice of homemade cake accompanied by a cup of tea in the Bluebell Barn. =
The Arlington Bluebell Walk & Farm Trail offers more than just a scenic escape for our Residents; it's a testament to community collaboration and support for those in need.
