What a truly fantastic evening it was for the BBCH team at the East Sussex & Brighton & Hove Partners in Care Annual Awards! On Thursday, we came together—with staff & trustees.—to celebrate the incredible dedication, compassion, and achievements of our team.

ESPIC’s Annual Care Awards are a special moment for the local social care community to recognise the outstanding contributions of individuals and teams working across the region.

Honouring Excellence: Our Winners & Highly Commended Stars

We are incredibly proud to highlight the following wins and commendations from our BBCH family:

  • Hidden Gem Award – Winner: Paul McKeown (Gardener) Paul’s quiet dedication and

care for our grounds—and for the people who live and work here—show that vital contributions don’t always happen in the spotlight. He truly is our “hidden gem.”

  • Highly Commended – Innovations in Social Care: Chené Jones (Admin & IT Lead)Chené’s forward-thinking approach to using technology and admin support in social care made a real difference in how BBCH operates and serves our community.

  • Highly Commended – Ancillary Worker / Team of the Year: Maria Sinclair & Nicki Hollywood (Activities)Maria and Nicki, who run our activities programme, bring energy, creativity, and fun. This recognition really reflects how much life and joy they bring to everyone here.

  • Highly Commended – Care Newcomer of the Year: Charlotte Anderson, as a newer member of the care world, Charlotte has already made a big impact. Her compassion, learning spirit, and dedication mark her out as a rising star.

These awards are more than just trophies. ESPIC’s Care Awards are part of what makes the care sector so strong—they bring together people who might otherwise never be celebrated in a big way, and they highlight the many different roles that make great care possible.

Recognising roles like a gardener, an activities team, and admin support emphasizes that every part of the care ecosystem matters, not just frontline care workers. That’s something BBCH deeply believes in, and seeing our people honoured at this event is a reminder that care is a collaborative, holistic effort.
